In North America, ConocoPhillips controls more than 500 megawatts of power generation and markets more than 7.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day. In addition, our commercial power marketing and trading team manages ConocoPhillips' North American power load of more than 425 megawatts, nearly half of which is located in markets with retail choice, including Alberta, Canada; Texas; and the Los Angeles and San Francisco areas.
ConocoPhillips' power business is tied closely to the company's energy assets. We are a registered retail electric provider in Montana and Texas, where we have significant natural gas production, gas processing and refining assets. ConocoPhillips also utilizes natural gas assets in the Southwest, Gulf Coast, and Canada to pursue natural gas tolling transactions with independent power producers in those regions.
